Tips to consider in the event of a loss
Property:
- Report your loss promptly. In the event of a theft, report loss immediately to the police.
- Take pictures of the damaged items & make an inventory list of all damaged items (include quantity, cost & any original receipts, appraisals or photos of each item)
- Make any necessary repairs to prevent further damage & save all receipts.
- Keep all damaged parts/items for inspection by the claims adjustor.
- If your property is inhabitable, keep a separate list of your expenses for possible reimbursement.
- Contact an ICI for a list of approved contractors.
- Keep track of your personal labor hours, for clean-up etc for possible reimbursement.
Auto:
- Call police & report accident/theft.
- If involved in an accident; exchange contact information, insurance information & vehicle information along with tag & driver’s license numbers with all parties involved.
- If possible take pictures of the damage & accident site.
- Report your loss promptly.
- Do not authorize any repairs to your vehicle unless instructed by your claims adjustor.
Liability:
- Report your loss promptly.
- Forward all correspondence such as summons from attorney’s immediately.
- Do not discuss the loss with the other party or their attorney. Refer them to ICI or your claims adjustor or us.
Work Comp:
- Worksite injuries should be reported to the employer within the first 24 hours.
- If the injury is life threatening or needs immediate medical treatment contact your Employer’s designated Work Comp Doctor. If unavailable, take the injured worker to the hospital emergency room.
- Conduct a post accident investigation to determine the cause of the accident & what can be done to prevent further accidents. Share results with all employees.
- Implement Employer Return to Work program, when a disability injury occurs.
